IEC Young Professionals: for British citizens with a job offer

The short answer

Young Professionals is an employer-specific IEC category for British citizens aged 18–35 (as of October 14, 2026, IRCC: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/eligibility/eligibility-by-country.html) with an eligible Canadian job offer that supports career development. Not every offer qualifies. Whether yours does depends on the job’s classification and, in some cases, your education.

We advise on immigration status and strategy, not job placement. We don’t sell jobs, job offers or LMIAs, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Official requirements (Government of Canada)

  • Employer-specific work permit tied to the offer
  • The job must normally be classified at NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 (as of October 14, 2026, IRCC: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/eligibility.html)
  • A TEER 4 job may qualify if it’s in your field of study, with your post-secondary credential (as of October 14, 2026, IRCC: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/eligibility.html)
  • Your employer pays an employer compliance fee and submits the offer of employment to IRCC (as of October 14, 2026, IRCC: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/apply-work-permit.html)
  • Length by participation (as of October 14, 2026, IRCC: canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/iec/eligibility/eligibility-by-country.html)

What this means for your strategy

Practitioner analysis, signed by both RCICs: Sean G. McKinsley and Kimberly J. White. Not an Official Government of Canada, Provincial and/or Territorial Requirement. A job offer changes your options. The offer you already have might fit Young Professionals, a Working Holiday or a different work permit, and each one leads to different PR planning. The classification of the role matters more than the job title, so we check how the duties map before you commit to a category.

For what employers do on their side, see employer-specific permits. We advise on offers you already have. We don’t find jobs or supply job offers.

Aged 32 with a written offer from a Toronto firm. Before choosing a category, we’d check the role’s classification against Young Professionals, compare it with an open Working Holiday permit, and look at how each affects a later Express Entry profile.

A consultation is a 30-minute video call, CAD $250 plus applicable GST; the video call is included, with no separate fee. Government fees and any later professional services are not included in the consultation fee. Booking is free: you pick a time, read the Initial Consultation Agreement and add your details, then review and accept. Sean G. McKinsley, RCIC, our senior practitioner, conducts your first video consultation. The fee is earned only after your RCIC has performed substantive review of the information you provide when booking (and any documents we later request through our secure client process), issue identification, program analysis and preparation for your video call; opening a file alone doesn’t earn it. We invoice completed services, and payment must be made online through Stripe before your video call. We email you the video link before your call. What clients said

Reviews from the Canada Immigration and Visa Services Google listing (opens in a new tab).

As a British national, I worked with Sean, Kimberly, and their team on my permanent residence application. They were professional, responsive, and clear throughout the process, and their guidance helped make everything much easier. I would highly recommend them to others from the UK or anywhere looking to move to Canada.
