Step 1 · The consultation
| Session | Length | Fee (CAD) | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consultation with Sean G. McKinsley, RCIC, our senior practitioner | 30 minutes | CAD $250 plus applicable GST | Video conference |
Fee as of October 13, 2026. What the consultation covers: Fees and consultations
Step 2 · Request a consultation
- Contact us to request a consultation: use our contact page or message us on WhatsApp at +1 587-891-6778. Consultations are available Monday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Mountain Time. We will confirm a time directly with you.
- Read the Initial Consultation Agreement and add your details: your name, email, phone number and mailing address.
- Review and accept: check everything, choose Edit to change anything, then Accept.
That’s it: we record your acceptance and send you a copy of the agreement. Nothing is charged when you contact us to request a consultation.
Before the call, your RCIC does the substantive work: reviewing the information you provided when requesting a consultation (and the documents and questionnaire we request through our secure client process), identifying the issues, analysing the programs that may apply to you and preparing for your video call. Opening a file alone doesn’t earn the fee. Once that work is complete, we invoice the completed services: CAD $250 plus applicable GST. Payment must be made before your video call, online by credit card through Stripe.
Request a consultation: we do not offer online booking on this page. To request a consultation, please use our contact page or message us on WhatsApp at +1 587-891-6778. We will confirm the consultation, a time and the next steps directly with you. Nothing is charged when you make a request.
Please note
- Price: CAD $250 plus applicable GST for the consultation: preparation before the call, then one 30-minute video consultation with Sean G. McKinsley, RCIC, our senior practitioner, included with no separate fee (fee as of October 13, 2026). Government fees and any later professional services are not included in the consultation fee. Making a request is free; nothing is charged when you contact us. Your video consultation takes place only after you sign or accept the Initial Consultation Agreement, we open your file and review your documents and questionnaire, which we request through our secure client process after you accept the agreement, and the consultation fee is paid.
- What you’re buying: a consultation is professional advice on your situation. It isn’t an application, it doesn’t mean we represent you, and it doesn’t guarantee any outcome. Representation needs a separate signed Retainer/Service Agreement.
- Initial Consultation Agreement: you must read and accept our Initial Consultation Agreement before the consultation. We will provide it to you after you contact us, before you review and accept, and it governs the consultation.
- When you pay: the fee is earned only after your RCIC has performed substantive review of the information you provide when requesting a consultation (and the documents and questionnaire we request through our secure client process), issue identification, program analysis and preparation for your video call; opening a file alone doesn’t earn it. The fee is invoiced after we finish preparing and must be paid by card before your video consultation (Initial Consultation Agreement, sections 3 and 4).
- Cancelling or rescheduling: please tell us as soon as reasonably possible by replying to your confirmation email. If you cancel before preparation has begun, no fee is earned or invoiced (Initial Consultation Agreement, section 14). Once the preparation has been completed and invoiced, the fee is earned, and it isn’t refundable merely because the video call didn’t take place at the scheduled time; where reasonably practicable, we may permit the call to be rescheduled (section 15). If we can’t hold the call, we’ll use reasonable efforts to offer a replacement time; if the consultation can’t reasonably be provided, we’ll make any fee adjustment, credit or refund that the CICC Code or applicable law requires (section 16). This doesn’t override rights you have under the CICC Code or applicable law. See our Refund policy.
- Card details: when you pay your invoice, you enter your card details on Stripe’s secure payment page. They go to Stripe and are not stored on our website.
When you request a consultation, we ask only for your name, email, phone number and mailing address, which the agreement needs. We’ll go through the details of your situation on the call. Please don’t send documents through the website; we’ll request them through our secure client process.
After you request a consultation: confirmation message
After you request a consultation: we will contact you to confirm your consultation time (Mountain Time) and the next steps. Your invoice follows once the preparation is complete. We email you the video link before your call.
Documents: after you accept the agreement, we request your documents and questionnaire through our secure client process, never through the website, and review them before your call.
Need to change your time? Reply to our confirmation email. Refunds: see our Refund policy.
Before you request a consultation
- A consultation is professional advice on your situation. It isn’t an application, and it doesn’t guarantee any outcome.
- We may not be able to advise if there is a conflict of interest; if so, we’ll tell you before the consultation. If preparation hasn’t begun, no fee is earned (section 9). How fees are handled is set out in the Initial Consultation Agreement and our Refund policy.
Common questions
Answers from the Team of Sean G. McKinsley and Kimberly J. White, two Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants working together as co-counsel. Every case is different; for advice on yours, book a consultation.
Will both consultants attend every consultation?
Not necessarily. There is a single consultation-request path, and Sean G. McKinsley, RCIC, our senior practitioner, conducts your first video consultation. Because Sean and Kimberly work as co-counsel, both of them may review your matter before or after the call, so you get the benefit of two regulated professionals without paying for two meetings. If your matter goes further, your Retainer/Service Agreement will say who works on it and who is your representative of record.
How much is a consultation?
A consultation is CAD $250 plus applicable GST. The fee covers your RCIC’s preparation before the call and a video consultation of about 30 minutes with Sean G. McKinsley, RCIC, our senior practitioner. Making a request is free. Government fees and any later professional services are not included. See Fees and consultations for what the consultation covers, and contact us to request a consultation.
Is the consultation only a 30-minute video call?
No. The video call is about 30 minutes, but it is the follow-up to work done beforehand. The fee covers your RCIC’s review of your information, issue identification, program analysis and preparation, and then the video consultation, which is included with no separate fee. Because the analysis is done before the call, the 30 minutes is spent on your answers and next steps rather than on collecting basic facts.
When is the consultation fee invoiced and paid?
Nothing is charged when you request a consultation. Once your RCIC has completed the preparation for your consultation, we invoice the completed services. The invoice must be paid by credit card through Stripe’s secure payment page before your video call; payment is required before the call goes ahead. Your card details go to Stripe and are not stored on our website. The Initial Consultation Agreement you accept before the consultation sets out these terms.
Does requesting a consultation earn the fee?
No. Making a request is free, and requesting a consultation or opening a file alone does not earn the fee. The fee is earned only after your RCIC has performed the substantive review, issue identification, program analysis and preparation for your call. If you cancel before preparation has begun, no fee is earned or invoiced. Once the preparation has been completed and invoiced, the fee is earned. Details are in the Initial Consultation Agreement and our Refund policy.
Should I upload passports or other sensitive documents through the website?
No. Please do not send passports, identity documents, medical, police or financial records, or other files through this website. When you request a consultation, we ask only for your name, email, phone number and mailing address, which the consultation agreement needs, and our website does not accept uploads for this. After you accept the agreement, we request the documents and questionnaire we need through our secure client process, never through the website.
